Accessories Required for Installation of Handheld Showers
You will need the following tools and supplies if you are planning to install the handheld shower yourself: an adjustable wrench, Teflon tape, gasket, and a pipe mounted hand-held showerhead and a towel are necessary to set up a hand held shower.
Installation Directions
Place the towel on the bath floor as a precautionary measure to protect the tiles. Remove the existing showerhead using the wrench to expose the threads on the shower arm supply pipe. Wipe clean the threads on the shower arm supply pipe. Wrap Teflon tape on to the threads of the shower arm supply pipe. Next, simply attach the handheld shower mount onto the shower. Insert the gasket into the end of the hose and then connect each end of the shower where indicated. Finally, place the hand shower on the mount - and voila! You're finished. The hand shower is now ready for use. A common problem that the showerheads have is of lime scale build-up, due to the minerals like calcium and magnesium present in the hard water, resulting in poor water pressure. This problem can be set right by securing a cloth soaked in vinegar around the showerhead, using a rubber band. As the acid continues to eat away the deposits, clean the pores using a toothbrush and scrubbing powder. The use of commercial products designed to remove lime deposit, as per the instructions provided on the labels is recommended.
